AMLA, DE KOCK STEER PROTEAS TO COMFORTABLE VICTORY

South Africa's Quinton De Kock and Hashim Amla  produced a batting masterclass to steer the Proteas to a comfortable seven wicket victory over England at SuperSport Park on Tuesday.

The Proteas came into the clash trailing 2-0, after losing previous matches played at  Mangaung Oval and St Georges Park.

England had earlier won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors posted 318/8 after 50 overs, leaving the host needing a massive 319 runs to win the match.  Joe Root was the only centurion from the England team. Root was eventually dismissed on 125 runs by David Wiese's run out.

South Africa produced the first wicket partnership score of 239 runs.

Quinton De Kock became the youngest batman in ODI history to reach 10 centuries. The Johannesburg-born batman broke the previous record set by India's Virat Kohli.

  • Virat Kohli            :23 Years, 129 days
  • Quinton De Kock  :23 Years, 54 days
De Kock scored 135 runs from 117 balls and was awarded man of the match performance award, while Hashim Amla scored his 22nd ODI ton.

South Africa need to win the remaining matches to clinch the series.
