New Aces owner confirm Mbesuma exit

Collins Mbesuma celebrates scoring a goal with teammate
Zambian International striker and 2015/2016 Absa premiership top goal-scorer Collins Mbesuma will not be retained by Mpumalanga Black Aces, according to new CEO John Comitis.

Mbesuma, alongside goalkeeper Bafana Nhlapo were shown the door by Comitis. The former Ajax Cape Town CEO also confirmed the club will also relocate in a Cape Town and current coach Muhsin Ertugral will remain in charge in the coaching reigns.

The sacking of Mbesuma came as a shock after he had revived his form this season by waking away with the top goal scorer award in the recent Premier soccer league awards at Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

Mbesuma finished the season with 14 goals. Comitis said the decision to not renew the contract of Bafana Nhlapo was influenced by the good showings of Jackson Mabokgwane and Shuib-Aib Walters.

Mashaba's future as Bafana coach hanging in the line

Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba (Gerhard Duraan/BackpagePix)   Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba look to be edging ever so close to the exit door at SAFA house after a string of unimpressive results during the 2017 AFCON qualifying games. Apart from Hlompho Kekana’s wonder goal against Cameroon, Mashaba’s team has been poor throughout the qualifying campaign having managed to collect three points out of a possible 12.The team currently sit at the third spot in group M and is left with two games to play. In the first game of the qualifiers Bafana Bafana played a goal-less draw to Gambia, a country which had been banned for a year by FIFA.   This was followed by a shocking 3-1 away defeat to ‘minnows’, Mauritania, a country which many of us first heard about few days prior to the Bafana Bafana game. From those two games it was clear that the team was heading in the wrong direction.   This was recently followed by poor squad selection for the two gam...

Is Jurgen Klopp the right man to lead the Kop?

Photograph: Glyn Kirk/AFP/Getty Images Photograph: Dylan Martinez/Reuters Liverpool fans across the world seem to be convinced that the former Borussia Dortmund coach, Jurgen Klopp, is the right man to lead the Merseyside club for the remaining games of the 2015/2016 season. But the big question is if he is appointed as the new liverpool coach, won't he need time to settle in the premier league. Why not Carlo Ancelotti a man who have been there and done it with Chelsea? Klopp is a highly rated coach having led Borussia Dortmund to two consecutive Bundesliga titles and Uefa champions league final in 2013, on the other hand Ancelotti is a veteran coach that has won league titles in three different countries (Italy, England and France). Ancelotti hold a joint record with Bob Paisley to win the prestigious Uefa Champions League three times Rumours have emerged that if Klopp took over at Anfield he will demand full control in the transfer market. Both A...

Thomas Tuchel, a German mentor eager to change Chelsea’s fortunes

Earlier this week, Chelsea unveilled Thomas Tuchel as their new manager following the sacking of Frank Lampard, the Club’s legend and all-time top goal-scorer. 18-months. That is the time Frank Lampard lasted at Chelsea as a Manager. However, this is a familiar sight to those who have followed Chelsea during Roman Abramovich’s time as the Club’s owner — a Russian billionaire unsatisfied by nothing else but instant results. Following an impressive first season with the club despite the FIFA transfer ban, the second season was expected to be even better — more especially with the club backing him in the transfer market. A great start to a season, ruined by a bad spell for Lampard has brought Tuchel to Stamford Bridge. Tuchel, who led Paris St Germain to a treble last season and a Uefa Champions League final, will reunite with Thiago Silva and Christian Pulisic whom he coached at PSG and Borussia Dortmund respectively. Perhaps, the biggest reason behind Tuchel’s appointment is to...
