WILL LIVERPOOL EVER BECOME EUROPEAN GIANTS AGAIN?

Liverpool football club is regarded as one of the oldest and respected club in England. In the last decade or so the club haven’t really tasted any piece of silverware in a form of European title.

Not even Manchester United has more Uefa Champions league titles as Liverpool. The last trophy won by the club was the 2005 Uefa Champions league final held at Athens between Liverpool and Italian football powerhouse A.C Milan.

Since then lots of managers have appointed many of them failed failed to bring back glory days at the Merseyside club. Current England coach, Roy Hodgson failed as well. It was the club's legend, Kenny Dalglish who was able to bring silverware in 2012 after beating Cardiff city 3-2 on penalties in the Carling cup final.

The closest the club has come in winning the letitle was when former captain, Steven Gerrard slipped at Anfield to allow former Chelsea striker Demba Ba to tap home an easy goal. In that game Chelsea won 2-0 in what was Jose Mourinho’s first season in his second spell as a Chelsea manager and the league was eventually won by the “Noisy neighbours” (Man City).

With this being said clearly Brendon Rodgers also failed to add silverwares at Anfield trophy cabinet.

It Jürgen Klopp’s time to prove his value at the club. On Thursday last week the club produced one of the greatest comebacks in football history to book a spot in the semi-finals of the Uefa Europa league.

After Rodgers failure this looks like it might be an ideal opportunity for the club to collect a piece of silverware.

If Liverpool don’t win this trophy maybe we need to ask ourselves the following question
Is there a difference between Arsenal and Liverpool?

But the attitude and dedication displayed by the players on Thursday should be enough to give the fans, players and club owners hope that the club is slowly returning to their  old standards.

I have no doubt in my mind that Klopp is the right man for the job, he has been able to turn this bunch of players into one of the most feared team when going forward.

With Sturridge scoring goals and Firmino doing the same, clearly we shouldn’t be surprised when the duo begin to click properly.

Since Klopp’s arrival at the club Belgian striker, Christian Benteke has found it very hard to secure a place in the starting line-up.

Benteke was a proven goal scorer at Aston Villa. He saved the Villa Park team from relegation last season under the guidance of Tim Sherwood.

Who knows maybe if he wasn't sold last summer Villa would have avoided relegation. The club was relegated to Sky-Bet championship after scoring only 23 goals in the matches they have played so far this season.

Even Harry Kane has more goals as compared to Aston Villa. After a slow start to the season Kane currently tops the scoring chart in the English Premier league with 24 goals.

One thing that is certain is that the winner of this year’s golden boot will come from England. Obviously Harry Kane is currently the favourite ahead of Jamie Vardy after that silly red card he received last week against West Ham united.
